The question

419069
Generate a heatmap of USA population density in counties with reported tuberculosis cases.
Exact submitted task and declared adaptations
Generate a heatmap of USA population density in counties with reported tuberculosis cases.

Task conventions: The supplied county TB observations cover Massachusetts and New York in 2023 only. Other US states are UNKNOWN, not zero-case counties. Select original Census counties by STATEFP 25 or 36 as strings, then join NAME to the corresponding table County: MA Number of Cases, NY 2023 cases. Ignore state/city aggregate rows and footnotes; repeated names across states must not mix. Select strictly positive reported county case counts; preserve missing as unknown and exclude genuine zero cases. Heatmap means the native WorldPop USA 2020 population-density surface in those counties, not smoothed TB patients or a health-risk model. WorldPop stores people PER CELL. Divide each scaled count by its full original WGS84 meridian/parallel cell area in km2. No resampling, nominal one-km2 divisor, or smoothing. A lossless native-grid rectangular crop may use EXACT bounds [-80.00124969990557, 39.99958334884655, -68.99291641060557, 46.00791665814655]; these encompass the full observed states. Retain all original cells on that 1321x721 crop. Keep a cell only when its centre is inside a selected original county and its population is valid. Outside selected counties and source NoData are NoData, not zero density. Zero population inside selected counties stays valid. The historical years differ; this is population context, not inferred patient positions or a causal association.

Publish and map the masked density raster in people/km2, plus an inspectable original-county polygon selection retaining benchmark_row_id and a numeric case_count. End with fenced JSON {count:number of selected positive-case counties,unknown_count:NY/MA counties with unknown case counts,coverage_note:string, selection:{collectionId,itemId,assetKey} for the density raster,map_layer_id:string,county_selection:{collectionId,itemId,assetKey},value_field:"case_count"}. Explain that the rest of the USA is unobserved and that 2020 population and 2023 reported cases are different measurements.

Delivery format: provide the answer object with all fields specified above as final_response on assess_result, alongside the inspected final artifact_refs. This replaces the JSON-code-block formatting requirement above. Blue attaches your explicit selection to the accepted final answer. Finish with a concise ordinary-language answer agreeing with that selected result; do not duplicate the JSON in chat.

Recorded final answer

Done — using Census TIGER/Line 2024 counties, the supplied Massachusetts DPH and NYSDOH county case tables, and WorldPop 2020, I published the masked people/km² raster and the 42-county `case_count` layer to your map. The rest of the USA is unobserved, not zero-case, and the 2020 population raster is context only for the 2023 reported case counts. ### Limitations - Only Massachusetts and New York county TB observations are supplied for 2023. The rest of the USA is unobserved, not zero-case. - The two outputs combine different measurements and years: 2020 population counts and 2023 reported TB case counts. - Only Massachusetts and New York county TB observations were supplied for 2023. The rest of the USA is unobserved, not zero-case. - The raster shows 2020 population density and the county layer shows 2023 reported case counts. These are different measurements and years. - This map is population context only, not patient locations or a health-risk model. - Only Massachusetts and New York county TB observations were supplied for 2023. Counties in other US states are unobserved, not zero-case. - This county layer shows reported county totals, not patient locations within counties. - Only Massachusetts and New York are observed for county case counts. Other US states remain unobserved, not zero-case. - This raster is 2020 population context, not 2023 case locations or a risk model. - Outside the selected counties and outside the observed states, the raster remains NoData rather than zero density.

run_trial · completed

Do the state-specific county joins and the exact native-grid mask produce the requested positive-case county selection and a people/km2 raster without resampling?

assess_trial · completed · assessment: sufficient

The test answered the method question. Massachusetts and New York were joined separately by NAME to County, and both joins matched every county in the observed states: 14 Massachusetts counties and 62 New York counties. The joined county table had 0 rows with null case_count, 34 rows with case_count = 0, and the positive-case selection kept 42 counties with numeric case_count > 0 while retaining original county geometry and benchmark_row_id. The WorldPop crop used the exact requested bounds, preserved the native 1321 by 721 grid at 0.0083333333 degree resolution, and the density conversion produced people/km2 on that same grid. The final masked raster preserved NoData outside selected counties and source NoData, with no valid output where an input was missing.

assess_result · completed · assessment: sufficient

The published county layer contains 42 original Massachusetts and New York counties with strictly positive reported 2023 TB case counts. It retains benchmark_row_id and numeric case_count, and the final output contains only STATEFP 25 and 36. In the verified join pipeline, all 14 Massachusetts counties matched the Massachusetts table and all 62 New York counties matched the New York table; no observed county had a null case_count and 34 observed counties had case_count = 0 and were excluded from the final selection.

assess_result · failed · requested assessment: sufficient

The published raster is the requested WorldPop 2020 population-density surface in people/km2, cropped to the exact requested rectangle and masked to the 42 original Massachusetts and New York counties with strictly positive reported 2023 TB case counts. The published raster keeps the native 1321 by 721 grid at 0.0083333333 degree resolution, uses the tested density conversion, and remains NoData outside the selected counties and source NoData. The published county layer on the map retains benchmark_row_id and numeric case_count. Within the observed states there are 0 counties with unknown case_count and 34 observed counties with case_count = 0, which were excluded from the positive-case selection.
